The second palace of Mysore where tourists are allowed is Jaganmohan Palace. It is also called Jaganmohan Art Gallery. There is no scarcity for palaces in Mysore. Every palace has created its own history. Jaganmohan palace is one of the provisional palaces of Mysore Maharajas. When Amba Vilas Palace was oblated to fire, it took five years to reconstruct it. Till then Krishnaraja Wodeyar built Jaganmohan palace as a temporary residence. In the palace, old silver and brass utensils of the royal family, old coins and 2-millennium old paintings attract tourists. The main thing you have to see here is lady with the lamp. It is painted by haldenkar. It is kept in a dark room. This grand painting is one of the valuable artworks which are worth billions of rupees.
The palace can be reached by foot since it is located in the heart of the city. It is 1 kilometer from Mysore Bus stand and 1½ kilometer from Mysore Railway station. It will be open for tourists from 9 am to 5 pm. There are commercial complexes surrounding it where you can buy things.
